Saint Vincent's Colege Equestrian Team Spaghetti Dinner [ 88 KB ]
On Saturday, February 6, 2010 the Saint Vincent College Equestrian Team and Club will be hosting a spaghetti dinner ($6.00) from 4-8pm at the Saint Vincent Grove to help support the club activities. As a club sport, the equestrian team has fixed funds from the College to assist in the care of leased horses, pay for the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association fees, and pay for riding equipment. Taking care of horses is a very expensive and large responsibility. On average it costs about $2,000 to take care of the most basic needs of a horse. In an effort to keep the needed number of horses for the large and growing membership of the club, the students are raising funds to help reduce the overhead costs for yearly vaccinations of the horses. Along with veterinary needs, the showing members are faced with more expenses of buying show helmets, boots, jackets, shirts, and riding britches, not to mention paying their own entry fees and contributing towards gas money and other travel expenses. Being a part of the non-showing equestrian club however, is free to all SVC students who want to ride; all students must do is to supply their own riding helmet and boots. The goal with the spaghetti dinner is to raise money to help reduce the expenses so that the club can continue to offer horsemanship activities to students. Raising these funds will help support the existing club membership with enough horses and keep riding lessons free to all of those who are interested. To reserve tickets please call: 724-805-2096. Many great prizes and raffles will also be given away at this event. For more information about the Saint Vincent College Equestrian Club please visit: http://www.stvincent.edu/equestrian_club
